Spring 2019 Equipping Classes

Classes are available on Sunday and Wednesday evenings, beginning March 24.

This spring we will be hosting our second round of evening Equipping Classes. The classes will be Sunday and Wednesday nights from 6:30p-8:00p in The Box and Equipping Room at Cornerstone. We believe this will be a great opportunity for individuals to grow deeper by encountering solid teaching and engaging discussions!

Last fall sign-ups were for entire Connection Groups. This spring, each individual attending the class will need to register. While we still encourage Connection Groups to have their entire group go through a class together, anyone can take the class with or without their Connection Group.

Sunday Courses:

Global Missions

Mike Easton & Tim Day

God has a passion for His name and renown to be known in our city, in our nation, but also to the ends of the earth. In this class you’ll see God’s passion for His glory and His heart for the nations as seen throughout the Scripture. We’ll look into what that means for American Christians in the 21st century and Cornerstone members.

Grasping God’s Word

Matt LaPine & Salt Company Staff

Many people struggle to read and interpret the Bible, to make sense of a book that is thousands of years old and to apply it to their contemporary lives. In this class, we will provide both a basic map and some individual tools for making sense of it. Each class will describe and demonstrate how to use these tools to read and interpret different genres in Scripture including law, epistles, and narrative.

Wednesday Courses:

Vocation

Mark Vance

What you do in your 9 to 5 job matters to God and is a primary way God designed you to fulfill His command to love your neighbor. Simply put, work doesn’t get in the way of deep spiritual things that matter to God – your work is a deeply spiritual calling that matters to God! In this class, we will develop a theology of work and work toward practical, 9 to 5 applications of these Biblical truths.

Local Missions

Shane Kelley & Sarah Day

From the time of Jesus’ earliest followers all the way to today, we see the Lord using His church to both speak the Gospel message and show Gospel love. In this course, we will reflect on how God may be calling us in our existing spheres of influence and also learn together what it looks like to show Gospel love to the most vulnerable within our communities. We pray this course would propel you to go forward with clear vision on how you might use your gifts to bring glory to the Lord.
