Wednesday, July 26 | 6:00-8:00p | The Equipping Room
2 hours of Foster Care Training Credit Available
Helping those in our community who are impacted by poverty is not only a deep social challenge, but a great calling we have as Christians, as well. Mindy Jamison, director of the Friendship Baptist Center in Des Moines, has years of experience in working with people living in poverty.
Mindy will be sharing her insights on how to navigate the cultural gap between the impoverished and those wanting to serve. Mindy will discuss how cultural differences impact an impoverished person’s view on relationships, money, entertainment, possessions and much more. Mindy’s presentation will be followed up by a brief discussion on expectations for change, lead by Travis Pierce. This mini-conference will benefit those doing Foster Care, Rosebud Exchange, Adoption, Home for Awhile, School Mentoring and many other Third Place service groups.
