Trainings for Rosebud, Adoptive, and Foster Care Families
A myriad of trainings exist that foster, adoptive, and Rosebud families can be involved in. The following trainings are offered at Cornerstone and are open not just to foster families receiving training hours, but for all families working to love and parent hard-to-love-and-parent kids.
Marriage Mini-Conference for Foster/Adoptive Families
April 19, 2018 | Lessons from a Counselor/Adoptive Parent | 6:15-7:45p | Equipping Room
April 21, 2018 | Marriage Mini-Conference | 9a-12p | Equipping Room
On April 19 & 21, we will take some extended time to zoom in on marriage/parenting, specifically as it relates to adoption and foster care. Joel & Heather Fry will be our primary guides throughout our time together. Joel is a licensed counselor, President of Team Restoration Ministries, and is also a State Representative for House District 27 in Iowa. Together, he and Heather have been involved in foster care and in parenting 9 biological and adopted children.
On Thursday, April 19, Joel will help us zoom in on the most important marriage/parenting lessons he has seen as one who is both a counselor and a foster/adoptive parent. Childcare will once again be available this evening (if registered by Friday, April 13) and this training will be worth 1.5 hours of continuing education credits.
On Saturday, April 21, we will begin with some time in Scripture to recalibrate as we consider our marriage and our faith in the context of our adoptive/foster journey. Then, Joel and Heather will share some more lessons from their experience and give us practical steps to bring health and refreshment to our marriages. We would highly encourage setting up your childcare to go beyond noon to give yourselves some time to get lunch together and interact over what you just learned!
